A PATH NOT UNSEEN

August 18, 2025

“…The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” John 10:3,4

The shepherd goes before his sheep. The sheep are not meant to walk anywhere the shepherd has not yet passed through and deemed appropriate for their journey. This doesn’t mean they won’t pass through difficult terrain, as sometimes it is necessary to pass through a rough area in order to get to the good places. The shepherd knows where the sheep can make it and he is there to assist as they struggle, constantly leading, guiding, helping.

What a comfort to know that each child of God is led only into places that our Lord has gone first. We step into no trial or calamity or situation without Him knowing beforehand where we are stepping. And as we stumble, fall, become injured or feel scared, He comes along to right us, comfort us, remind us that He is there with us.

May we learn to always recognize the voice of the Shepherd, and may we always be faithful to follow His lead.
